Emmanuel Emenike had his debut with club Las Palmas of Spain delayed for much longer, after he suffered an injury in training.
Emenike joined Las Palmas on a six-month loan deal from Greek club Olympiacos on the final day of the winter transfer window in January, but is yet to make his official debut for the club due to fitness issues.
Las Palmas initially stated that Emenike is overweight, but the struggling club disclosed further at the weekend that he has been under treatment for several days after feeling sudden pain in his right knee during training on Thursday.
On the other hand, Emenike’s Nigeria pal at the club, Oghenekaro Etebo, who also joined on loan in January, has featured in two games since his arrival.
Meanwhile, Midfielder Eddy Ogenyi Onazi is expected to make a spirited return to training with club Trabzonspor of Turkey this week after recovering fully from a knee knock that hit him last week.
The knock was initially considered light, but eventually saw him miss Trabzonspor’s 0-0 draw away at Genclerbirligi (Gen-kla-balegi) on Saturday.
25-year-old Onazi, who has made 13 league appearances for Trabzonspor so far this term, was an unused substitute in the games against Fenerbahce and Goztepe before being granted a special leave prior to the (Gen-kla-balegi) draw.
