Tottenham signing Clinton Njie might play against Leicester City

Clinton Njie could be in line to make his Tottenham debut against Leicester today (22 August, 2015) after confirmation he has has now obtained a work permit and been granted the necessary international clearance following his move from Lyon.

The Cameroon striker scored seven goals in 37 Ligue 1 appearances last season and signed a five-year contract at White Hart Lane this summer for a fee believed to be in the region of £12m ($18.8m).

Although Njie, who claims he was also subject to interest from North London rivals Arsenal in recent weeks, joined Tottenham prior to their Premier League fixture against Stoke, he was unable to be selected in Mauricio Pochettino’s match day squad due to the formalities of the deal having not been completed.

The Independent report that the 22 year old was in Paris earlier this week to sort out the remaining issues regarding his work permit, only joining in his first training session with new teammates yesterday (20 August).

Such a lack of time to acclimatise may rule out the possibility of Njie playing a major role during Tottenham’s upcoming visit to the King Power Stadium, although he is now available for selection if required.
